Episode 127:

It’s Been Months (Seems Like Days)

(Originally released on February 6, 2023)

This tweet from @freebritplease sums it up for us:

Here’s the House of Spears article that was in New York Magazine in November.

And Jamie’s interview with the Daily Mail in December.

Page Six reported that a Beyonce/Britney collab fell thru.

On the legal end, there have been no big changes, but here’s the rundown of recent updates:

  • Judge Penny ordered Tri Star to produce all requested documents related to the 12th accounting (including electronic surveillance!) but limits Britney from discovery in earlier years unless Rosengart can provide further evidence of extrinsic fraud (additional Buzzfeed coverage)

    • As of 11/13, Lou & Robyn hadn’t complied with a court order to produce documents and be deposed (tweet)

  • Alex V. refused to turn surveillance documents over to Jamie (Here’s a Liz Day thread about this).

  • Kyle Freeney submitted a letter threatening sanctions against Jamie.

  • Jamie Spears filed another motion trying to make Britney’s medical information public.

  • Lynne dropped her request for Britney to pay attorney fees (here’s a tweet about the supplement filing from the day before).

  • Rosengart alleges that Jamie may have committed perjury.

  • John Eardley’s filing from last year.

  • During a hearing on October 26th, Judge Penny denied Weingarten’s motion to unseal docs with Britney’s medical info. Mathew Rosengart says he is going to file a motion to hold Weingarten in contempt, which would be heard at the 12/7 hearing (tweet with summary, tweet of Rosengart talking, THR coverage)

  • Lou changed attorneys and is now being represented by a trial attorney.

  • Rosengart filed a motion to compel Jamie to be deposed and for sanctions against him.

  • Judge Penny denied Jamie’s motion to strike the declaration from former FBI agent Sherine Ebadi which confirmed he put a listening device in Britney’s bedroom.

  • At the December 7th hearing, Judge Penny said, “All these matters are going to end up getting tried” (fee petitions, disputed accounting, claims of misconduct). She put everything over to May 10: “Hopefully by that time all discovery will be complete & I can send to trial”

  • Judge Penny issued a court order that Britney won't be deposed.

  • An update from Nancy Dillon re: the January 11th hearing: Judge issued tentative order today denying Britney’s request for 2nd deposition of her dad Jamie, but after her lawyer Mathew Rosengart said he’d be willing to go to Louisiana to do it w/very limited scope in 2 hrs or less, she took matter under submission. Britney's lawyer argued Jamie showed up to Aug. 11 deposition with 3k text messages in "shuffled" order, w/88 locked by missing password, so they were "unusable" in terms of questioning him about them. Jamie's lawyer said the texts were delivered in "industry-standard" format.

  • Judge Penny intends to appoint a referee to address the discovery disputes.

  • And a new update since we recorded, Judge Penny denied Rosengart’s request to depose Jamie again.
